After a month without uploading a post, we return presenting an anime that is virtually unknown despite the big names behind it. This time we bring Ghost Hound, an anime created by Produccion I.G. along with the teacher Masamune Shirow (creator of works like Ghost in the Shell) and a lot of even more interesting names that we will review later. Talking more directly about anime we find a small town that seems to be full of mysteries, ranging from ghosts, conspiracies, sects and above all a lot of psychology.

"In the quiet village of Suiten, three young men carrying psychological trauma are involved in the shock of the real world and the so-called" invisible world ", the place where spirits live. With the ability to enter the invisible world through trauma They possess will seek answers to the strange events that occur in the apparently peaceful town. For this they have the help of a variety of characters, including the young daughter of the local priest. "

With that premise we could suppose that we find a horror story, but more than anything we find a story of mystery, psychology and spirits. Here there that we stop to think about what we understand by spirits, we will not have the typical ghosts but a more Japanese conception of these, as forces of nature that can be influenced by human actions. If you have seen movies like the princess mononoke or even the avatar series you will know what kind of spirits we mean.

                            

As for characters we have a variety of broken and traumatic characters that have for everyone:

Tarō Komori: The main protagonist and a boy who carries the psychological consequences of having been kidnapped when he was a boy in which his sister died. With an affable personality and goodwill, it is mainly that we will delve into the themes and mysteries of the people and the mind.

Makoto Ōgami: Silent young man who reminds us of Sasuke but better, a tough boy and a potential criminal from the town, he carries his own traumas for what he witnessed in his childhood. A memorable character who will show us more closely the mysteries of the town's past and the conspiracy that surrounds it.

Masayuki Nakajima: A much friendlier version of John Constantine, a student who has just transferred to school and town and wants to discover the mysteries that are there in town and will use all the tricks he has, although like everything, he is still a aimless and traumatized young like everyone.

Miyako Komagusu: The smile that must be protected, a mysterious sixth-grade girl who has a strong connection to the spirit world, a young woman mature for her age due to the absence of her mother. With it we explore a concept that is interesting to me: Are spiritual powers mental illnesses? Could it be that some cause others or that they coexist at the same time in a person?

There are more characters that are memorable but we will limit ourselves to these, because there is something that must be considered if you are someone who plans to see the series: the atmosphere, expectation and objective. Previously we named the creator of Ghost in the Shell, he had the idea for this anime since 1987, but it was not until in the 2000s it was resumed to be released in 2007. Some of the names behind it are:

Our beloved Ryūtarō Nakamura as director giving that touch that personally reminds me of Serial Experment Lain, I don't know if it is that there is a lot of talk about dreams that gives rise to an environment that seems very surreal despite the normality that many planes reflect or the continuity with which certain electrical devices such as recording tapes and spotlights are reminded of the light poles that appear in Lain. We also have back Chiaki J. Konaka who presents us with an interesting story that invites us to know what will happen next and that in many chapters, using the talks with the psychiatrist as a means, introduces us to psychological concepts such as theories and approaches that invite us to reflect, at no time is said that this is the answer, that the invisible world is false or just another disease, we are invited to think, reflect and see if it is possible that both worlds coexist. The theories that speak are developed in the chapters but sometimes these are contradictory in what seems to me to be a success, after all people like psychology are not a field 100% understood, they change and nothing is totally taken for granted. true.

As for the character design and animation we have Mariko Oka who was in the development of Jigoku Shōjo, so the similarity between these two is not coincidental. The animation is not something that especially stands out, it is good and serves the purpose although sometimes the animation of the spirits does not feel as organic and they include what appears to be 3D animation that becomes visually unpleasant at times.

As for the soundtrack, we only have ambient noises without much to highlight, except for its openinng, which is simply incredible and moved, being a jazz explosion that made me want to see it again in each chapter. Equally, the endinng is moving and extremely nostalgic, which can also be heard over and over again. Another detail to consider are the advances for the following chapters that are nothing more than mentions of real experiments that in some way will be explored in the plot of the next chapter.

Before finishing, it is necessary to mention its errors that, rather than errors, are ways to address it, it has its slow moments and even entire plots that give an excessive amount of turns as well as the enormous scenes of expository dialogues that there. The end can also be very unsatisfactory for many, partly due to the first constructions that are made that make us think that we are facing a huge cataclysm but in the end we have something more mundane, almost a huge accident. Although at first it seemed like a manga bag, I think it really goes along with the spirit of the series, wanting to bring the complex and the spiritual to a worldly terrain. After reflecting I was able to appreciate the ending a little more and although the series could have taken it better and turned it into something of a cult we finally get an interesting series that invites us to think. I have a good affection for the series and its characters, if you want to see something thoughtful and that makes you think while it gives you an acceptable plot, give this series a chance.

Lo mismo pero en español.

     

Después de un mes sin subir algún post regresamos presentándoles un anime que es virtualmente desconocido a pesar de los grandes nombres que se encuentran tras el. En esta ocasión traemos a Ghost Hound, anime creado por Produccion I.G. junto con el maestro Masamune Shirow (creador de obras como Ghost in the Shell) y un monton de nombres aun mas interesantes de los que mas adelante daremos un repaso. Hablando mas directamente del anime nos encontramos con un pequeño pueblo que parece estar plagado de misterios, que van desde fantasmas, conspiraciones, sectas y sobretodo mucha psicología.
"En el tranquilo pueblo de Suiten, tres jóvenes que arrastran traumas psicológicos se ven envueltos en el choque del mundo real y el llamado "mundo invisible", el lugar donde habitan los espíritus. Con la habilidad de entrar en el mundo invisible por los traumas que poseen buscaran respuestas a los extraños sucesos que ocurren en el aparentemente pacifico pueblo. Para esto cuentan con la ayuda de variedad de personajes, entre ellos la joven hija del sacerdote local."
Con esa premisa podríamos suponer que nos encontramos con una historia de terror, pero mas que nada nos encontramos con una historia de misterio, psicólogia y espíritus. Aquí ahí que detenernos a pensar en lo que entendemos por espíritus, no tendremos a los típicos fantasmas sino una concepción mas japonesa de estos, como fuerzas de la naturaleza que pueden ser influidos por las acciones humanas. Si has visto películas como la princesa mononoke o incluso la serie de avatar sabrás a que tipo de espíritus nos referimos.

En cuanto a personajes tenemos a una variedad de personajes rotos y traumados que tienen para todos:
Tarō Komori: El protagonista principal y un chico que carga con las consecuencias psicológica de haber sufrido un secuestro cuando era chico en el que murió su hermana. De personalidad afable y de buena voluntad es por el que principalmente nos adentraremos en los temas y misterios del pueblo y la mente.

Makoto Ōgami: Joven silencioso que nos recuerda a Sasuke pero mejor, un chico rudo y un potencial criminal del pueblo, carga con sus propios traumas por lo que presencio en su niñez. Un personaje memorable que nos mostrara de mas de cerca los misterios del pasado del pueblo y la conspiración que lo rodea.

Masayuki Nakajima: Una versión mucho mas amigable de John Constantine, alumno que acaba de transferirse a la escuela y al pueblo y quiere descubrir los misterios que ahí en el pueblo y usara todos los trucos que posea, aunque como todo, no deja de ser un joven sin rumbo y traumado como todos.

Miyako Komagusu: La sonrisa que debe ser protegida, una chica misteriosa de sexto grado que posee una fuerte conexión con el mundo espiritual, joven madura para su edad debido a la ausencia de su madre. Con ella exploramos un concepto que se me hace interesante: ¿Los poderes espirituales son enfermedades mentales?¿podría ser que unos causen otros o que coexistan al mismo tiempo en una persona?

Ahí mas personajes que son memorables pero nos limitaremos a estos, porque ahí algo que es necesario considerar si eres alguien que planea ver la serie: el ambiente, expectativa y objetivo. Anteriormente nombramos al creador de Ghost in the Shell, este tenia la idea de este anime desde 1987, pero no fue hasta que en los años 2000 fue retomado para ser estrenado en 2007. Algunos de los nombres que tenemos detrás son:

Nuestro querido Ryūtarō Nakamura como director dando ese toque que personalmente a mi recuerda a Serial Experment Lain, no se si sera que se habla mucho de los sueños que da pie para un ambiente que me parece muy surrealista a pesar de la normalidad que reflejan muchos planos o la continuidad con la que se enfocan ciertos aparatos eléctricos como cintas de grabación y focos que me recuerdan  los postes de luz que aparecen en Lain.

Tambien tenemos de regreso a  Chiaki J. Konaka que nos presenta una historia interesante que nos invita a saber que pasara después y que en muchos capítulos usando como medio las platicas con el psiquiatra nos introduce conceptos psicológicos a si como teorías y planteamientos que nos invitan a reflexionar, en ningun momento se dice que esa sea la respuesta, que el mundo invisible sea falso o solo otra enfermedad, se nos invita a pensar, reflexionar y ver si es posible que ambos mundos coexistan. Las teorías que hablan se desarrollan en los capítulos pero a veces estas son contradictorias en lo que a mi parecer es un acierto, después de todo las personas como la psicología no son un campo entendido al 100%, se cambia y nada se da totalmente por cierto.

En cuanto a el diseño de personajes y la animación tenemos a Mariko Oka que estuvo en el desarrollo de Jigoku Shōjo por lo que el parecido entre estas dos no es coincidencia. La animación no es algo que sobresalga especialmente, es buena y sirve al propósito aunque algunas veces la animación de los espíritus no se siente tan orgánica e incluyen lo que parece ser animación 3D que llega a ser desagradable a la vista a veces. 

En cuanto a la banda sonora solo tenemos ruidos ambientales sin mucho que destacar exceptuando su openinng  que sencillamente es increíble y movida siendo una explosión de jazz que me hacia querer volverlo a ver en cada capitulo. Igualmente el endinng es conmovedor y sumamente nostálgico que de igual manera se  puede volver a escuchar una y otra vez. Otro detalle a considerar son los adelantos para los siguientes capítulos que no son mas que menciones a de experimentos reales que de alguna manera se exploraran en la trama del siguiente capitulo.
Antes de terminar es necesario mencionar sus errores que mas que errores son maneras abordarlo, tiene sus momentos lentos e incluso tramas enteras que dan una excesiva cantidad de vueltas asi como las enormes escenas de diálogos expositivos que ahí. El final también puede ser muy poco satisfactorio para muchos en parte por las primeras construcciones que se hacen que nos hacen pensar que estamos ante un enorme cataclismo pero en el final tenemos algo mas mundano, casi un enorme accidente. Aunque en un principio me pareció una saca de manga, creo que realmente va junto con el espíritu de al serie, el querer traer lo complejo y lo espiritual a un terreno mundano. Después de reflexionar pude apreciar el final un poco mas y si bien pudieron haberlo llevado mejor la serie y convertirla en algo de culto finalmente obtenemos una serie interesante que invita a pensar. Le guardo un buen cariño a la serie y sus personajes, si quieres ver algo reflexivo y que te ponga a pensar mientras te da una trama aceptable dale una oportunidad a esta serie.
