Esto junto con la intromisión de los gobiernos en su búsqueda de control que junto con diversos organismos tratando minar continuamente la libertad en la Web, uno de los casos mas sonados puede ser el de Wikileaks,, el portal que compartió documentos secretos del gobierno de USA y otros estados, en consecuencia fue rápidamente declarado fugitivo y tuvo que huir y movió la información en un intento de salvarla, en estos movimientos se desato una verdadera ciber-guerra donde organizaciones, empresas, paginas web y hakers tanto a favor como en contra del movimiento se inmiscuyeron tratando tanto de salvar la pagina o tumbarla, hubo ataques a bancos y sitios web involucrados. en su búsqueda de control completo, diversos gobiernos usan iniciativas como los derechos de autor como excusa para cerrar paginas, tales como PirateBay, el principal sitio de torrent que junto con sus fundadores fueron arrestados por movimientos que se hacen junto a grandes compañías para limitar la libre expresión de los usuarios.
